F.A.Q.

Where will the school be held? -

Where will the school be held? The Devotion Phase is held in a retreat setting in Central Pennsylvania that allows for lots of prayer and intimacy with God. The Discipleship Phase is held in the city of Reading. The Deployment Phase will be held in countries outside of the USA where the DCFI family is located. Current locations under consideration are Brazil, Guatemala and Kenya. The Destiny Phase is held at the same venue as the Devotion Phase.

Is this a missionary school? -

No, it is a discipleship school that includes a cross-cultural outreach to increase effectiveness in sharing the gospel in any setting and promote spiritual growth. (The school may stir a desire for longer missionary service in the hearts of some; while others will go on to serve in the local-church or marketplace.)

Why start another discipleship school? -

We recognize a longing for discipleship and spiritual parenting in many of today’s young people. We believe God is raising up many new schools, around the world, to meet this growing need while continuing to bless the existing schools.

How is this school different than other discipleship schools? -

We thank God for the existing discipleship schools and seek to work in partnership with the body of Christ around the world. Our vision is to help students know God and discover His purpose for their lives. A few of the distinctive characteristics of this school are our focus on spiritual parenting, ongoing connection to the local church, a paradigm of church planting and the seven month time frame. A huge emphasis throughout the school is placed on helping the students find their life calling. This is also the key focus of the Destiny phase.

Why is the school named The School of Global Transformation? -

We believe it is important for every young person to experience the transforming power of God, and in turn become an agent of transformation to the world around them. As each student finds their divine purpose it will lead to global transformation.

What is the price? -

The total price for the School of Global Transformation is $5,950. The cost for Phase I, II and IV is due the first day of school in September or before. The remaining money is the cost of Phase III (cross-cultural outreach) and is due the end of November. We are encouraging all students to pay the full price at the beginning of the school, if possible. This price does not include your passport, vaccine shots and pre-school medical exam expenses.

I don’t have that much money. How will I pay for the school? -

It is your responsibility to gather the funds to pay for the school. Click on the Finances link for helpful ideas for fund raising. However, working and saving will almost always be an essential part of gathering funds.

Where does the money go? -

The money will go to pay for room and boarding, honorariums for the speakers, transportation for outreaches and general administrative costs for the school.

What age group is the school for? -

Our target age group is post high school / college-age and older. Married couples are welcome.

Can I bring my children? -

At this point we are not able to accommodate families with children. (We will continue to evaluate the feasibility of accommodating children for future schools.)

How do I apply for the school? -

You can download an application by clicking the “apply now” link on the right side of the page. The application has further instructions to help you in the application process.

What is Mission Impossible? -

As the initial team of leaders for The School of Global Transformation was praying about its development, there was a TV show called “The Apprentice” starring Donald Trump. The Apprentice is a business style survivor show where contestants are eliminated based on their business savvy and performance in different projects they are assigned. For example, teams of contestants are assigned a leader and are sent out onto the streets of Manhattan to start a business and they have $1,000 for startup and 24 hours to do it. Nothing is pre-arranged for them.

As we considered the content for the discipleship phase of the school, we felt like God gave a similar idea of sending outreach teams to a city or town with only a place to stay and challenging them to hear from God about how to reach that place. Nothing will be set up for them other than food and housing and the team must get strategy from God about what to do to see the Kingdom of God come in that location. It could be anything from reaching out to the homeless to going to the mayor’s office and praying. Each team will have a video camera to record the adventure that God has in store for them. These teams will also work together during the two month cross-cultural outreach to another nation.

Will I need a physical exam? -

Yes a medical form for you and your doctor to fill out is part of the application packet.
